Positions

Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer)

Unpaid/For School Credit, MIN. 8 HRS/WEEK FOR 12 WEEKS

Background

Ohana Village Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, located in San Diego, Ca, and rooted in culture and care. Founded in 2025 to support of the Ohana Care Home's work of delivering small human-scale communities where our elders feel at home.

Your Role

The Volunteer Coordinator helps to recruit, train and support the Foundation’s program and community volunteers by building volunteer opportunities. At hand is always the importance of building bridges to donors and community members, engaging and sharing the stories of the Ohana work and the needs of the charitable foundation. The Volunteer Coordinator is an important ambassador of the non-profit and plays a key role in strengthening community engagement and advancing the organization's mission.

Responsibilities will include:

  

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to ensure effective      participation in organizational programs.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies, including      college and high school campus recruitment efforts.
  • Set up a volunteer management system to track schedules and contact.
  • Organize a training program to enhance volunteer skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to meet program needs.
  • Participate in social media to promote volunteer opportunities and      organizational events.
  • Participate in public speaking engagements to raise awareness about      volunteer programs.
  • Supervise volunteer activities to ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
  • Evaluate volunteer program effectiveness and recommend improvements for increased engagement.

Requirements

  •  Experience as a volunteer and supervisor would be ideal.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent public speaking abilities with experience in social media      management a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate diverse      groups of volunteers.
  • Prior experience in community service is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with      team members.
  • Japanese verbal and written skills a plus .

Social Media Marketing Intern (Volunteer)

Unpaid/For School Credit, MIN. 8 HRS/WEEK FOR 12 WEEKS

Background

Based in San Diego, Ohana Village is working to expand quickly and bring the underpinnings that will support access to a retirement community that is focused on creating senior housing available to all who seek culturally sensitive and relevant Japanese language, programs and activities. Come join in the journey to grow and engage with their remarkable founders and the community they have already attracted.


Help us further bring our community together through social media.

Your Role

As a school intern / volunteer you will have an opportunity to use your proficient social media skills and experience to develop an integrated social media plan, growth strategy, and design/create engaging posts and track measurable markers of success. 

Responsibilities will include:

· Participate in brainstorming and concept development

· Research trends and create content 

· Design postings, using Adobe Illustrator or other design software

· Conduct video interviews with residents and their families to develop a “blog” concept and stories 

· Film and edit video content for IG, TikTok, Facebook, Linkedin and Youtube, creating interwoven stories in postings

Qualifications

Must have strong oral and written communication skills and experience with developing and overseeing social media for your club, school or organization. Ideal candidate has strong design skills, is entrepreneurial, and has their own transportation.
